The Power Glove. It’s So Bad.

power glove adRemember The Wizard? I thought it was a really cool movie when I first saw it. In this scene they show off the Power Glove, a pretty ambitious attempt to bring motion control into games. A lot of kids wanted one, and the movie was a perfect opportunity for some good old fashioned 80′s marketing to keep us wanting. Keep in mind that we didn’t have the Internets rumor mill to feed us with speculation and low-res leaked media, so The Wizard was the best way to see the Power Glove in action.

The Ultimate Love/Skate Relationship

Review: The Cutting Edge, PG, 97 min. (MGM) 1992

She’s a wealthy pairs figure skater whose elitist attitude has her competing solo. He’s a no nonsense hockey champion whose latest injury may have cost him his career. Individually, their Olympic hopes are fading. But together, Kate Moseley and Doug Dorsey will have an opportunity to make their dreams come true; that is, if they can only figure out how to get along. Olympic gold and an unlikely romance are at stake when two skaters from two different planets unite to take on the world.

Summary provided by MGM Inc.

This movie is weird.

Yes, I’m Lookin Forward to the New ‘Star Trek’ Movie

The New USS Enterprise

I grew up on Star Trek. I haven’t gone to any conventions or anything, but I do consider myself a fan. What you see above is a teaser image of the U.S.S. Enterprise model for the new Star Trek movie directed by J.J. Abrams. His monster is tearing through New York, and he’s more well known for his hit show on ABC, but I’m looking forward to his re-imagining of the original Star Trek series. One of Therefore’s favorite people, Simon Pegg, will be playing the iconic role of Scotty, and the rest of the cast seems to be shaping up well. I’m glad that they’re mostly steering clear of well-known talent. Every Star Trek series has been about rich characters, and little-known character actors are better at those types of roles. A very low quality version of the teaser trailer and a super special trailer for Star Trek XI are after the jump.

There Will Be Numb Asses

I went into “There Will Be Blood” aware of the fact that the word “masterpiece” was being bandied about quite liberally, which is not to say that I walked in with doubt or cynicism. I was excited. I expected a masterpiece, as P.T. Anderson is very well capable of producing.
