I grew up on Star Trek. I haven’t gone to any conventions or anything, but I do consider myself a fan. What you see above is a teaser image of the U.S.S. Enterprise model for the new Star Trek movie directed by J.J. Abrams. His monster is tearing through New York, and he’s more well known for his hit show on ABC, but I’m looking forward to his re-imagining of the original Star Trek series. One of Therefore’s favorite people, Simon Pegg, will be playing the iconic role of Scotty, and the rest of the cast seems to be shaping up well. I’m glad that they’re mostly steering clear of well-known talent. Every Star Trek series has been about rich characters, and little-known character actors are better at those types of roles. I went into “There Will Be Blood” aware of the fact that the word “masterpiece” was being bandied about quite liberally, which is not to say that I walked in with doubt or cynicism. I was excited. I expected a masterpiece, as P.T. Anderson is very well capable of producing.
